Many companies will do their market research online through the use of surveys, and some of them will even pay you to fill in their survey. How cool is that? This is a great way to earn some extra money for Christmas at home.

Now, I will warn you that this is not the most lucrative option included in this article as the surveys don’t pay amazingly well. However, it’s an easy way to bring in a little extra money!

7. Declutter & Sell Stuff You No Longer Need

Chances are good, you own a lot of stuff that you don’t necessarily need to keep, either because you don’t use them or you don’t need them anymore. Some examples could be:

  • Clothes
  • Bags & Purses
  • Game Consoles & Video Games
  • Computers, Tablets, & other Electronics.
  • Books
  • Furniture
  • Home Decor
  • Sporting Goods
  • Tools & Equipment

Take a look around your home and see what items you are no longer using. Then you can sell them online to make money. Some popular places to sell your used stuff are Facebook groups, Facebook marketplace, eBay, etc.

8. Rent Out Your Stuff

There are many people who like to rent out items that they need, but don’t necessarily want to buy for themselves. This could be to save money or storage space. But whatever the reason, they need to rent these things out, and you have them. This presents a great opportunity for you to make some extra money.

One popular rental type is tools and equipment. This can include a ladder, drill, paint sprayer, and so on.

Many people also like to do things during the winter like go snowboarding or ice skating. If you already own the equipment, why not rent it out? This can earn you a lot of money.

9. Become A Pet Sitter

During the holidays, many pet owners are gone to see family or are jetting off on their winter vacations. Well, they need someone who loves animals to take care of their pets, and this is where you come in! If you love animals, then offering a pet-sitting service is a great way to make extra money for Christmas.

You can offer your services on websites such as Rover or Care.com. Some cities may also have local pet-sitting agencies that you can go through.

Also, never underestimate the power of word of mouth. Tell your friends and get them to tell their friends you are offering this service. You never know who will need someone to watch their pets while they are away.

10. Earn Free Gift Cards

Did you know that some companies and apps will allow you to earn gift cards in exchange for completing tasks for them? You can then use these gift cards for your holiday shopping!

While there are many sites that allow you to do this, they are definitely not all created equal. To learn more about the best sites to use, go here. One of the most popular options and my favorite is Swagbucks.

11. Rent A Room In Your House

Finally, if you have an extra room in your home, why not rent it out? You can list your room on websites such as Airbnb or HomeAway and make money by renting it out for short-term or long-term stays.

You can also rent out rooms as a storage option for people who want extra storage, but don’t necessarily need a full-size storage unit for the winter.

More and more people are also renting these additional rooms in people’s houses as their “home office” space. This is a budget-friendly way to get an office for people who don’t have the space to do this in their own homes.

How can I make a little extra money for the holidays? (For real!)

As you can see, there are so many ways to earn extra money for Christmas. And the best part is, you don’t need to leave your house to do it.

Yet, so many people aren’t doing it. Why not?

Unfortunately, a lot of people struggle with the task of getting started and actually doing the work. And I totally get it! You are busy, and sometimes it feels impossible to find the time to do these extra things. However, if you need money for Christmas, then you might need to make some sacrifices.

So, I want to share some of my top tips for being able to earn extra money for the holiday season that is actually doable, no matter your circumstances!

Tip #1 – Consider Your Time

If you are someone who genuinely has no extra time to do work in exchange for money, then you should consider one of the options that require very little to no time at all. This would include things like rentals or selling unused items.

Tip #2 – Include Your Family

Earning extra money for the family should not fall squarely onto your shoulders. I think it is important that everyone chips in and does their part so that you can all enjoy a stress-free holiday season.

For example, if you are offering pet-sitting services, then consider getting your kids to spend time playing with the animal, cleaning up after any messes, etc. This will free up time for you, teach your kids some responsibility, and make this more doable overall.

You can also ask for help from your partner. If they are willing to help with some of the household chores and cooking a couple of days a week, would this free up some time for you to be able to do some work as a virtual assistant or do data entry for example?

Tip #3 – Create A Routine

If you are feeling very time-poor, but also notice yourself wasting a lot of time, consider creating routines. Doing this can help you move seamlessly from task to task throughout the day which can actually result in freeing up some time for you.

Then, you can use this additional time to do extra work that will earn you more money for Christmas.

Organize your time so that you can earn extra money for Christmas.

How can I earn money quickly from home?

Some of the ideas included in this blog post will take longer than others. For example, earning money from starting an Etsy store might take longer than renting out a room. So, if you need to earn money quickly for Christmas, then these would be your best options from this list:

  • Take Surveys Online
  • Selling Used Items
  • Renting Your Stuff
  • Renting Out A Room
  • Pet Sitting

I hope that this blog post has given you some ideas and inspiration for ways to make money for Christmas from the comfort of your own home. Now it’s time to go and get started!
